2nd Australasian – Pacific. ALUMINIUM EXTRUSION CONFERENCE, 17-18 July 2003 Watermark, Gold Coast ABSTRACT The thermal and mechanical loading of containers in modern extrusion presses is continuously rising up. Responsible for this is the reduction of dead time and production parameters, respectively the increase of the billet volume in heavy metal extrusion, especially for the indirect process. As a result of the increasing requirements of the extruded product new developments in tooling are necessary. Very important in this respect are new developments in the field of container design and techniques. Therefore new grades of tool steels with improved properties and design concepts are available for containers. |
